Seven Tears Beneath the Selkie Moon
Married under the full moon, selkies Muirenn and Roane had a passionate start. Each was devoted to the other and didn’t partake of the typical selkie pleasures of roaming dry land and seducing the mortals. Their desire for each other was that made of dreams.
Life together was perfect until the night Muirenn didn’t return home.
Drew Stoddard was fishing near his homestead on Hoy in the Orkney Islands when he saw her…a beautiful selkie emerged from the sea to lie naked in the sun upon the shore. Falling madly in love with this seductive creature, he vowed to make her his. With the aid of a cloaked stranger, he stole her seal skin, binding her to him for as long as he possessed her pelt.
Seven years have gone by and after searching the ocean from shore to the deepest trench, to no avail, a grief stricken Roane is unable to find his beloved bride. Convinced she must have met with Death himself, he resigns to the fact that he’ll never see Muirenn again. Then, on the night of the seventh full moon, seven tears are cried into the sea, making their way to him.
Muirenn is alive!
Aware that the end of the seventh year is coming, Muirenn’s heart begins to break and she thinks that all hope she will be reunited with the love of her life is lost. In five months, she will lose the ability to change back into her selkie form whether she finds her skin or not.
