Annie's Biography

I've been writing short comedies since Jr. High and once I was in Sr. High, these short stories included a romance.  (Well, what a teenager thought romance was!  LOL)  Then instead of passing notes to my girlfriends, I'd share these tales with them.  I'd even leave a few in their lockers!  All of which I seriously hope have been shredded, mangled, or burned beyond recognition! (The stories, not my girlfriends!!!!  Good grief!  I'm a romance writer, not Horror!  LOL)

One of these girlfriends once said to me that I should become a romance writer.  I laughed and said, "Ya, right!"  (Can you hear the teenage sarcasm?)  She knew more than I thought she did!  LOL  Thank you PM for encouraging Fang to quit squirreling around in chapel and take up a hobby!  LOL (although Fang still loves to sing!  LOL) My dear readers, Fang was a character in some of these comedies that I wrote!  Perhaps one of these days, I'll include him in a Romantic Comedy, however for now; the world just isn't ready for the introduction of "Fang!"  LOL

Then at the age of twenty, I read "A Knight In Shining Armor" by Jude Deveraux.  I was hooked and to this day, it remains one of my favorite novels!

Most of my books have a paranormal flare to them.  I truly enjoy writing (and reading) about ghosts and time-travel.  And if I can incorporate a castle or two in them, even better!

While living in Europe, I was able to visit several castles and fell in love with the medieval time period and have been fantasizing and writing about them ever since.

My family history is Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and Spanish.  My husband's is Irish, Scottish, and English.  We celebrate our different heritages and are teaching our children the wonders and joys of being Celtic!

I come from a large military family and was the first of our females to join the service!  In fact, when asking my great-grandfather’s permission, he said, “It’ about time the women in this family did something other than passing out donuts at the USO.”  With his endorsement, the rest is history!

After spending eight years in the United States Army, I met my Knight in Shining Armor, face to face, on the battlefield of a medieval reenactment with a sword and shield in my hands and a claymore in his.  Then I married that man in a Twelfth Century Norman wedding ceremony one and a half years later.   Then after seven years and two wonderful children, he decided to take his turn serving our country in the Army!  So now instead of making formations, I stand amidst the ranks of Army Wives and make care packages for my GI Joe!  And I’ve found that not only do I come from a strong military family, I come from an amazing stock of strong women who support their military men.  Believe me, this job is much tougher.

I’m often found writing at all hours of the day and night in my PJs thanks to my muse who keeps me hopping.  I’m also grateful to my Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Hamish and Aonghus and my black kitty, Aella Boo  for forcing me to take a break from time to time to play.  These three are quite the characters of their own.

Speaking of Hamish and Aonghus, I'm a huge Pembroke Welsh Corgi fan!  My first corgi, Nina passed away at the age of four on January 17, 2011 of a brain tumor.  This utterly broke my heart as she passed away peacefully in my arms.  Shortly after, we welcomed into our home Nina's nephew, Aonghus.  This of course made Hamish the big brother and the two have been frick and frack since.  One of these days, we will bring another female into our lives, but until then, Miss Aella Boo will have to do.

I am also the Photographer and Managing Cover/Promo Artist for DCL Publications, LLC and the owner/operator of Beyond the Book Productions.  Beyond the Book is a full service design company that creates Book Covers, Book Videos, Promotional Items, and Photography.  This gives me the opportunity to meet and work with the sexy men who grace mine and the other author's covers.  Needless to say, I love my job!

Along with reading and writing about men in kilts, ghosts, and time travel, I love traveling, going to the beach to collect shells and sea glass, digging for gemstones, and jewelry making!
